Scalar Curvature Fluctuations on the Four–Sphere
Two-point functions of the scalar curvature for metric fluctuations on the four–sphere are analysed. The two-point function for points separated by a fixed distance and for metrics of fixed volume is calculated using spacetime foam methods. This result can be used for comparison between the continuum approach to quantum gravity and numerical quantum gravity on the lattice. Pacs numbers: 03.70.+...
متن کاملThe Scalar-Curvature Problem on the Standard Three- Dimensional Sphere
Let (S3, c) be the standard 3-sphere, i.e., the 3-sphere equipped with the standard metric. Let K be a C2 positive function on S3. The Kazdan-Warner problem [l] is the problem of finding suitable conditions on K such that K is the scalar curvature for a metric g on S3 conformally equivalent to c. The metric g then reads g=u4c and u is a positive function on S3 satisfying the partial differentia...
متن کاملOn the Webster Scalar Curvature Problem on the CR Sphere with a Cylindrical-type Symmetry
By variational methods, for a kind of Webster scalar curvature problems on the CR sphere with cylindrically symmetric curvature, we construct some multi-peak solutions as the parameter is sufficiently small under certain assumptions. We also obtain the asymptotic behaviors of the solutions.
متن کاملOn metrics of curvature 1 with four conic singularities on tori and on the sphere
We discuss conformal metrics of curvature 1 on tori and on the sphere, with four conic singularities whose angles are multiples of π/2. Besides some general results we study in detail the family of such symmetric metrics on the sphere, with angles (π/2, 3π/2, π/2, 3π/2). MSC 2010: 34M03, 34M05, 30C20, 35J91, 33E05.
متن کاملScalar Multi-solitons on the Fuzzy Sphere
We study solitons in scalar theories with polynomial interactions on the fuzzy sphere. Such solitons are described by projection operators of rank k, and hence the moduli space for the solitons is the Grassmannian Gr(k, 2j+1). The gradient term of the action provides a non-trivial potential on Gr(k, 2j+1), thus reducing the moduli space. We construct configurations corresponding to wellseparate...
